The levator scapulae attaches at the top of your shoulder blade and runs up the side of your cervical spine. It becomes overloaded when the head is held forward or tilted for extended periods.
Pain is typically felt at the angle of the neck and shoulder, often causing a stiff neck that limits rotation to one side. It can also refer pain along the top of the shoulder blade.
Position the tip at the junction of the neck and shoulder, angling slightly toward the spine. Apply slow, sustained compression. This point is particularly accessible when seated with the arm supported.
