The piriformis is a small deep hip rotator located beneath the gluteus maximus. Due to its proximity to the sciatic nerve, trigger points here frequently produce symptoms that mimic sciatica, including radiating pain down the leg.
Deep aching pain in the buttock and hip, sometimes radiating down the back of the thigh. Pain typically worsens with sitting and improves with movement. Hip range of motion is often restricted.
Locate the midpoint of the buttock and apply the Pressure Pointer while seated or lying on your side. Pressure should be firm but not sharp. Hold each point for 60 to 90 seconds and breathe steadily.
