The upper trapezius runs from the base of your skull to the top of your shoulder. Trigger points here are among the most prevalent in the body, particularly in desk workers, drivers, and anyone who carries chronic stress in their neck and shoulders.
Upper trapezius trigger points refer pain upward along the side of the neck and into the back of the head. Many tension headaches originate here rather than in the head itself.
Apply the tip to the ridge of the upper trap, midway between your neck and shoulder. Hold gentle pressure for 30 to 90 seconds. Breathe steadily and allow the muscle to release before moving to an adjacent point.
